This listing is for the Tuesday 6:30-9:30pm class. This class runs for eight consecutive weeks during the Fall term which runs from September 8th until November 2nd 2025.

This course led by Lou is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of pottery. New beginners will learn essential wheel throwing techniques and develop foundational pottery skills throughout the course. Returning students can build upon their existing knowledge by exploring more advanced forms and refining their technique. Students will have the opportunity to work with the instructor on personalized project goals starting from Week 3.

The studio provides basic tools and equipment for community use, though students are welcome to bring their own tools and storage systems if preferred. Please note that clay and firing costs are separate from the class fee and must be purchased additionally. Students enjoy unlimited access to open studio time and receive their own designated shelf space for storing works in progress and personal tools throughout the duration of the class.

Week 1: Studio orientation and basic wheel throwing fundamentals
Week 2: Introduction to creating cups
Week 3: Bowl making and basic shaping techniques
Week 4: Plates and trimming demonstration
Week 5: Trimming techniques and adding handles/attachments.
Week 6: Final week for creating new pieces.
Week 7: Glazing workshop
Week 8: Final glazing session and course completion
