This listing is for the Saturday 11am-2pm class. This class runs for eight consecutive weeks during the Fall term which runs from September 8th until November 2nd 2025.

This course led by Susanna aims to fill students with a love for the craft. New beginners will learn the complete process of wheel thrown ceramics, acquiring the skills of a beginning potter upon completion of the course. Returning students will build on their foundational skills by working on more complex forms and techniques. Students will have flexibility to work with the instructor on individual project goals from Week 3 if desired.

The studio has limited tools and tiles for community use, feel free to purchase your own bat system and bring your own tools which you can store at the studio.  Please note that clay and firing fees are not included in the cost of class and must be purchased separately at an additional cost.  Open studio is free and unlimited and each student is issued their own private shelf to store works in progress and tools for the duration of the class.

Week 1: Studio introduction and foundational wheel skills
Week 2: Intro to cups
Week 3: Intro to bowls and shaping
Week 4: Intro to blates and saucers. Trimming demonstration.
Week 5: Trimming and adding attachments. Glaze demonstration 1.
Week 6 : Final week for wheel-throwing new pieces. Glaze demonstration 2.
Week 7: Final week for trimming and attachments. Glazing session.
Week 8:  Final week for glazing.
